Why do AI bots need access in robots.txt?

OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Bingbot power AI search results; ChatGPT-User and Claude fetch pages when a user asks. Blocking them means your products can't be quoted or linked. GPTBot/Google-Extended/Applebot-Extended control training use — a business decision, but blocking them also lowers long-term visibility.
